Peter, the founder of HLB Chessboard, has been in the accounting and finance industry for 18 years. As a chartered accountant Peter has worked for Deloitte and was Principal in charge of Corporate Finance in Queensland at Crowe Horwath. Peter spent many years in the investment banking industry in Sydney and Brisbane. He has completed many transactions up to $135m in his career from dual track exits, mergers and acquisitions and takeover defences to capital raisings and proposed IPOs. Peter has a depth of experience in private equity, agribusiness, health and services. He regularly acts as lead adviser to boards through corporate transactions. Peter sits on the UQDI Advisory Board and is chairman of the UQDI Foundation Board. He is also on the JDRF state committee.
Peter is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Member of FINSIA, Graduate of Australian Institute of Company Directors and adjunct fellow of the University of Queensland Diamantina Institute.
James is Managing Partner of HLB Mann Judd in Brisbane. He is an experienced business advisory specialist with in-depth knowledge of all operational and strategic aspects of a business. James has an extensive range of expert skills and knowledge across a broad range of industries, including property and construction, hospitality, professional services, transport, financial services institutions, wholesale, and retail. He is involved with several peak bodies that represent these industries, and is often invited to attend specific educational programs. James is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and Fellow of the Taxation Institute of Australia.
Cheyne is a Chartered accountant with over seven years of experience advising businesses across a diverse range of industries. As a member of the HLB Chessboard and HLB Mann Judd Corporate Advisory team, Cheyne provides his clients with strategic advice including business restructuring, transaction services and capital raising.
